Ferrero Addresses TMO’s Hazelnut Decision at the Turkish Grand National Assembly…

In his speech at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, CHP Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel reacted to the Turkish Grain Board’s decision to sell hazelnuts below market price.

During the Turkish Grand National Assembly session yesterday, Mustafa Adıgüzel reacted to the Turkish Grain Board’s decision to sell hazelnuts below market price. Adıgüzel stated:

“Yesterday morning, the Turkish Grain Board intervened in the rising hazelnut prices by making sales below market value. Just like the Central Bank intervenes in the foreign exchange increase by selling foreign currency, the Turkish Grain Board also made the decision to sell hazelnuts traded at 63 lira for 58 and 61 lira. Hazelnuts were suddenly reduced by 5 lira. Turkey has incurred a loss of 1.5-2 billion in a single day. So, who benefits from this palace operation? Not the public, but Ferrero; loan sharks, and the foreign cartel. Despite Erdogan’s announcement of 53 lira at the beginning of the season, hazelnuts had overcome this initial blow and were quickly moving towards our proposed price of 70 lira when, through the Turkish Grain Board’s intervention, a second blow was dealt. We will put an end to the international thug and usurious system supported by the palace in hazelnuts.”
